We've been enjoying our time with the in-laws and getting into routine with Miss Ellie. She is too wonderful for words. We went to my parents for a little Halloween shindig tonight and she was excited to show off her pumpkin sleeper. Too cute!

What's required.

I was able to finish this commissioned piece before the baby arrived - I really like how it turned out. I thought I should share it since it's kinda fall and festive. I was so glad to finally get it done and sent off to a special cousin of mine (Happy Birthday Katie)!

Hey there! We have had a lovely time settling in and are so enjoying our little bundle of joy. She is just precious. I have all kinds of things to write about, art to share, and a few guests posts to put up as well, but as you can imagine my time is not my own these days and it's tough to sit down to blog. Daniel's parents are coming for a visit from Ohio today as well (they will be here a week) so things will be pretty quiet around here for a while. Don't you worry, I'll be back. Thanks for the love and support about our little one! We feel so blessed. 

Ellison Kate

Ellison Kate arrived on October 19th at 9:31 am. She came via c-section after 29 loooong hours of labor. She was 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 20 1/2 in. long.

We love her so much already and cannot believe how surreal this whole experience is! We will update more soon!

2 years.

Today is our second anniversary - what a wonderful 2 years it has been! We thought we'd have a baby by now, so we already celebrated a couple of weeks ago, but we're going to take advantage of the day and rest, nap, maybe go to dinner and a movie... We're enjoying the time as just the 2 of us while we can, but I must admit we are getting more and more anxious for this baby girl to arrive. Pretty sure she'll be here sometime this week, so we'll keep you posted!

Still working on it...

Still trying a few things out for the wine labels. I've got some time but I'd really like to make one that sticks out and is "the one!" Soon enough I guess. 

We went to the doctor this morning and it looks like this baby just isn't ready to come into the world yet! We have  couple other appointments this week and next, and if she doesn't make her appearance by the end of the week, we'll talk about an induction. I'll keep you posted...

Waiting...

If you can believe it, we're still waiting for this little girl to arrive... I'm feeling pretty restless! I could not get motivated to do much this morning, but something hit and now I'm just trying to get stuff done. Still working on wine labels, commissioned paintings and a few fall things. Here's to hoping this baby comes SOON!

Can you tell I'm about to be a mom just by the things I'm drawn to today? This might be one of our last weekends just the two of us so I'm hoping for some down time with my love, some family time, and maybe a little bit of nesting and home decorating. We're also celebrating my Grandpa's 82nd birthday! Hope you have a great weekend.

Rainy Days and Spills.

It poured rain yesterday for a couple of hours which made for the perfect day to stay in my pajamas until 3! I did dome things around the house, worked on art and gave myself permission to rest a little bit - since I won't have the chance for too much longer. 

I loved how the marker bled through - it made the back of the page look sort of like stained glass? I tried to re-create it but it didn't really work out. 

I also caught up on Glee while working on these drawings, visited my sister down the street and then got pedicures with my mom in the afternoon. Really, such a fabulous day! 

Sometimes I feel guilty about days like that, but not yesterday. I needed that. 

Cut Paper Art

We just received the sweetest, most generous package from a dear northwest friend! She sent a bunch of cute outfits for our little one, a couple mixed CDs with kids tunes on them, a handmade quilt from her grandma (!!) and an amazing book - I can't get over how wonderful the entire gift is!

The book All in a Day by Cynthia Rylant is illustrated by Nikki McClure and everything is cut out from paper... I can't believe how detailed it is. She draws everything on black paper and then cuts out the drawing with an X-Acto knife. All the images stay connected by one path of black paper and become like a big lacy cut-out. There's no erasing, so she just has to figure it out as she goes if she makes a mistake. I love it! Check out some of the details on these pages!

Updated tattoo

I re-worked a little tattoo for my friend's 30th birthday and now she's just trying to decide where to get it tattooed - it will be kinda crazy to see my work on someone's body!

How was your weekend? We had a great little getaway to celebrate our 2nd anniversary (it's not til the 17th but our little one should be here by then so we thought we should celebrate early). It was wonderfully relaxing! Also, it's overcast and sorta rainy here today which really makes me so happy. Even though it's still 65 and warm, I can somewhat imagine fall weather and I love it!

Feeling fall-y

I cannot believe it's the first of October. This month brings our new baby, our 2nd Anniversary, a fun art journaling class and hopefully some cooler weather. I'm looking forward to all of it, but I can't help like life is going to change SO much once the little lady comes. I'm anticipating it but I know it will be great once she arrives. Here are a few fun fall things that are getting me more in the mood for fall...
