Settling in.

Howdy friends! We made it from Seattle to Southern California on Wednesday and have been working on getting settled ever since. We've spent a ton of time with family and a ton of time unpacking boxes. It's really surreal to live here and not just be on vacation - usually we leave after a few days, but now we're just here! As hard as it was to leave Seattle, we know it was the right decision. 


We're giving ourselves a week or two to get settled and work on life things like insurance, CA state licenses, utilities, etc... and then it's back to work for both of us. I have a lot of art to catch up on, and if you've e-mailed me, I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank for your patience in this time.

In the meantime, exciting news: I'm a sponsor over at Arian's blog for the month of July! Yeay! I haven't been a sponsor on any blog yet, so it's pretty exciting for me. Arian is a super creative lady, cute mom and has some wonderful art - I have a few prints that I am excited to hang in our new home. Baby Benjamin

I painted this a while ago for someone who is giving it to their friend who is having a baby. The only requirements were his name, the specific verse, lots of blues and maybe a little ocean theme. I have a lot of fun doing pieces like this because they are so simple - there isn't any pressure to make it really epic! Welcome to the world Baby Benjamin!

The blog will be a bit quiet for the next few days as we are in transition and making the big move - we can't believe it's actually here! We've talked about it for months and now we're actually in the process of making it happen. I'll keep you posted on how everything goes and I hope to be back with more art to share soon.

The Red Candle

My sweet friend Lucy got married to Matt in April, and I painted this for them as a late wedding gift. Lucy's mom died of cancer a few years ago, so in order to honor her they had a candle to light during the ceremony. When there were troubles with the candles lighting, as there often are at weddings, a couple of the groomsmen came to the rescue and replaced those candles with candles that would finally light. Lucy's dad wrote this poem the day after the wedding in honor of that moment, and in honor of what Lucy's mom would say to Lucy about her wedding day. I thought it was such a sweet gift from her dad, so I tried to keep the painting simple as to focus on the text.

Last Art for Sale Installment - Scripture

Well, folks, I picked up the last of the art today from May Valley Alliance Church. I was so sad to see it come down from there - they just loved it and really were so kind to me! But I guess all good things must come to an end, huh? This is the last installment of art for sale. Everything is more than 50% off of it's original price, and I feel pretty good about that. The way all this art has been selling so quickly is making me re-think my prices. I'm guessing the less it costs, the more you'll all buy? Maybe? We'll see...

Hello and Thanks!

Just wanted to say hey to our new followers here. Hi! Welcome to my blog and thanks for joining us! It's always exciting to know more folks are reading, and even more exciting to know who you are. 

Also, thanks for the great response about the art for sale. I've edited the post below so everyone can know which have sold and which are still available. We're going today to pick up some more art from my church, and I'll post those that are for sale asap. Looks like the next sale post will be sometime Wednesday after I've picked up all that art from a different church... lots of pick ups and drop offs to do, along with packing and moving! Sheesh. I do have a few new pieces to share with you as well, so hopefully I'll be able to post them amongst all the craziness of this week.
