Chalkboard DIY at Specs and Wings Blog Party

Next up, a fun little DIY! I made this a few months ago when I was feeling super crafty. I know that chalkboards are "in" right now, and I really wanted a cute one of my own. I bought a wooden platter at Good Will for about 2 bucks spray painted it white for a base, and then spray painted it will some old chalkboard paint I had around the house. You could basically do this project for free if you have all the materials laying around! Super simple and super cute.

You will need:
A platter, plate or board of some sort
White or any color spray paint for a base
Chalkboard spray paint

I've already used mine for a menu display at a bridal shower...

a welcome sign in our new home...

and a grocery list reminders for my super forgetful brain (I'm 27 weeks prego with our first baby, and sheesh, is my brain forgetful these day!)...

First off, let's do a giveaway! Who doesn't love a good giveaway?? This first piece is a giclee print of an original painting called "Jacob I" that I did in 2006. The winner of this giveaway will receive this print not including the mat and frame. To enter this giveaway, respond here in the comment section with your current favorite inspirational quote or text!

This second piece is marker on paper and is called "Wellspring." (To enter this giveaway, respond here in the comment section with your favorite summer drink! Mine is just a plain ol’ non-fat, decaf iced latte. Also know to some as a “why bother?” Haha! Yum!)

Specs and Wings Blog Party

Hi guys! We are ALMOST home from our second road trip to and from Seattle... we've had so much fun, but I think we're ready for our routine - whatever that looks like now. Just wanted to tell you about my friend Molly's blog party today! I mentioned last week that I did a couple of guest posts for a friend including a DIY and some giveaways...

Today is that day she is re-opening her Etsy shop! She has some great handmade items, so check it out! She is so fun and creative and I've really enjoyed becoming her "blog friend." I had so much fun creating a couple of fun posts for her blog, and I'll be sure to post them in full after they've shown up at her party. In the meantime, check out the party and all the other fun posts! Enjoy!

Just a little "hey."

Hey friends - how are you? So sorry things are still pretty quiet around here. I really can't believe what a process moving is... there is SO much to do! I have barely given my art a thought because I just don't have time in my brain to fit it in. Sheesh!

We've been working away on getting settled, spending time with family, figuring out our routine, etc. I do want to share with you these AMAZING vintage chairs that we got for our new family room. They used to be in my grandparent's house as little a "his and hers" spot at the end of their huge bed (well, it felt huge when I was a little girl). I'm so excited about having them in our home, not only because they are cute, but because I'm sentimental too.

Ah! They are just so cute. They need a little TLC but I think they will just be a great addition to our new space.

Anywho, I've got a few fun things coming up that I'll be sure to share with you including a guest blog for one of my cute blogging friends (with giveaways and DIYs!) and a few new commissioned paintings. We're making another trip back to Seattle this weekend for a wedding and to get some items we left behind, but I'll be back as soon as I can with more updates.
