2009 Review

When I started this blog a little over a year ago, I didn't realize how it would help me want to make my art better... I didn't expect to find inspirations and encouragement from readers (some who I know, some who I have never met but now feel like I know!) and I didn't expect to learn so much... I just thought it would be a great place for my family and friends to see my most recent work! I've learned so much and I really feel like blogging has helped me grow in my ideas of what art is, what is means to me and how it affects others.

It's been a really fun year, friends. Thanks for the inspiration, encouraging words, recommendations, purchases, and for continuing to support me through this crazy blog world! 2010 seems to have some exciting things in store - looking forward to sharing that with you! I want to share just a couple of art goals for 2010 because I know sharing them will keep me accountable:

1} Paint or draw something every day... even something small!
2} Set up a "real" studio.
3} Have at least 2 shows.
4} Create at least 3 new series... new ideas, or out of my comfort zone.

Hmmm. That's probably good for now, huh? Have a fun and safe New Year's celebration and we'll talk next year!

Merry Merry Christmas!

7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

14 “ Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Luke 2:7-14

Merry Merry Christmas to each of you!

Different Takes.

{Another oldie, but perhaps appropriate for all the opinions about holidays and Christmas?}

I am having way too much fun here in California! It's sunny and semi-warm, and I just love the people here so much. We are off to a Christmas Eve service in a little bit, and then our immediate family will share Secret Santa gifts like we do  every Christmas Eve. We're looking forward to a relaxing day with the family tomorrow too. So thankful to celebrate Jesus' birth by spending time with loved ones!! Blessings to each of you on this Christmas Eve.

Do not waste any of this.

So sorry I've been MIA since Friday! It's so hard to be present in "blogland" when I have 2 adorable nephews, a niece and the rest of my fabulous family all around! We've been sliding around on Nana and Gramps's wood floors, making ginger bread houses, swimming in the jacuzzi, looking at Christmas lights, singing Christmas carols, eating LOTS of food, and laughing a lot. I love being with my fam.

In the midst of being with my sweet family, we found out that a long time friend  basically my grandpa's best friend, died early this morning. It was expected, but that doesn't make it any less difficult. Though I spent only a small amount of time with him, I know he was an incredible man. While we're all so sad for his family, my mom said, "Just think though. He breathed his last breath here on earth, and then he woke up in the presence of Jesus!" What a thought. All this  makes me really appreciate the time I have with the people I love... I don't want to waste any of it.

Merry week of Christmas! Let's remember what's really important, eh?
