Call to mind

This is a painting I did a few months ago but never posted. I kept it simple because it is hung up in a lakeside cabin in the mountains and my style typically doesn't exactly scream woodsy and cabiny. The family room in the cabin has a lot of classic (original!) 70's touches like lime green leather chairs and blue and green canvas curtains, so we stuck with the blue and green theme.

(I'll see if I can get a picture of it hung in it's new space to share with you!). Be back soon with more paintings.

Oh, hello again. It's been a while.

I'm not sure where the last 4 months have gone but I've been around... just busy. We're working on baby #2 at the moment - a boy due this summer - yay! Life has a funny way of just passing by so quickly. We're in a really sweet (and sassy) phase of life with our daughter and getting ready for a baby brother. I've been doing very limited amounts of painting but I do have a few new pieces to share in the coming weeks.

I made this sweet little painting for a sweet little man! His mama is one of my dearest friends and he is just a treasure. I wanted to keep this simple but fun - bright colors, not too overdone and font that hopefully makes the words the main thing. I actually like it so much, I'm tempted to make one for myself!

Hello again! This is a painting I put together for a friend who recently had her first baby. Sweet little Lucy's room has lots of bright colors, polka dots, flowers and birds! I mimicked a bit of the pattern on her bedding for the details around her name.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are already in Christmas mode around here. It is so fun to decorate our tree with a 2 year old who excitedly yells "TREE!" over and over again. Ellie loves all the lights and the nativity sets so we are having so much fun seeing all the magic through her eyes.

Oh, hello again.

It's been a while! I have been spending time with my sweet little family and working on prioritizing my life (Not an easy feat, my friends). I have been working on a few paintings in between so I'm ready to share a few new pieces here in the next couple of weeks.

I have done a lot of paintings for kids over the years and you all know what happens to kids - they grow up! I painted these blue and orange letters for my nephew's baby nursery so long ago! 

He recently decided he needed something a little bit more mature and "army" colored so I repurposed and repainted the original letters.

They look much "older" now, don't they? Anyway, I'll be back again soon to share a few other things I've been working on.

Keeping it real.

I've got some changes coming around here. I've been feeling so overwhelmingly blessed lately at my job of being wife and mom, and I really want to make some healthy changes. I'm closing down my etsy shop for now, taking a limited amount of custom orders, and just letting go. I need to focus on my sweet family, self-care, and painting because I'm inspired. Of course I'll still share whatever paintings I'm working on, but I won't be grasping for more blog content or things to keep you all entertained (just keeping it real here, folks). See you next time.

Happy Spots: In Our New Home Edition

As summer turns into fall we are settling into our "new" home quite nicely. I'm so grateful for this place and so thankful that our little family has a wonderful place to call home. There is still a lot to be done for sure, but so many things about this house make me happy:

"Draw Draw"

Sometimes when you're a mama doodling with crayons on your baby girl's big pad of paper is the most "artsy" thing you do all week. And you are totally ok with that. My Ellie girl loves to "draw draw" with whoever will join her!

My in-laws are here for a couple weeks so we went to Disneyland for a few days and we've been doing lots of fun things like shopping, lounging, eating and sleeping in! It's a little "stay-cation" if you will. Happy Labor Day to all. 

Surprise art supplies!

A dear friend of mine dropped off a wonderful bag of art goodies last week - she graciously passed it off to me because she knows I will use it. I'm SO excited about all these new paints (especially the fun colors I don't usually let myself buy) and the notebooks will be so useful too. 

I'm in love with the one that has the woodgrain cover. There is something about new paints, blank pages and blank canvases that get me so excited to create... here's hoping I can do that soon!
